Piano Nobile Kings Place is pleased to announce a gallery talk by David Bratby. Bratby is Jean Cooke's son and he will be speaking about his mother's paintings, explaining how she worked and where her subjects came from. Often working under strained family circumstances, Cooke was a remarkable woman and one of the twentieth-century's finest female painters. Bratby will offer a personal insight into her life.
The event will accompany Piano Nobile Kings Place's exhibition, Jean Cooke: A Modern Venus. The exhibition coincides with the Kings Place Music Foundation's series for 2019, 'Venus Unwrapped', a series of concerts and events focusing on the musical achievements of women.
