The gallery has loaned two works by William Gear to a major retrospective of the artist at the Towner, Eastbourne on the centenary of his birth, William Gear 1915-1997: The painter that Britain forgot. These two works are a pen and ink self-portrait drawing now in the Ruth Borchard Collection - read more about this work here - and an exquisite oil painting from 1947, Composition Espangnole. The exhibition brings together around 100 works covering all major phases of Gear's career, an apposite tribute to the Towner's most famous curator.
The exhibition is on until 27th September. For more information please visit the Towner's website.
