Piano Nobile artist Jean Cooke features in exhibition at Pembroke College

Oxford

Pembroke College Art Gallery's second exhibition features the work of the highly significant British artists, and husband and wife artist duo, John Bratby RA (1928-1992) and Jean Cooke (1927-2008). The first time that Bratby and Cooke's work has been shown side-by-side, the exhibition explores their mutual influence upon each other and personal and artist interrelationship during this flourishing period of British realism, the era of the 'Kitchen-Sink' group.

Piano Nobile represents the estate of Jean Cooke, and we are delighted to be loaning several of Cooke's works alongside a work by John Bratby to Pembroke Art Gallery for the duration of the exhibition. Pembroke Art Gallery, the first of its kind in Oxford University, is run by the JCR with a small but significant collection of modern and contemporary British art. The exhibition opens on 30th April and runs until 12th June 2015. More information on the exhibition is available here

The Royal Academy has called the show a 'must-see'. Read their review of the exhibition here

The works by Jean Cooke in the exhibition are available for purchase. Please contact the gallery for a price list and further information.
