An important new exhibition of modern British art has opened at Dulwich Picture Gallery, London. British Surrealism: 1783-1952 has been curated by Dr David Boyd Haycock, an independent scholar and a leading specialist on Paul Nash. The exhibition traces the deep roots of Surrealism in the British Isles - a trajectory separate from the Frencophone branch of the movement originated by André Breton in the early twentieth century.
Dr Haycock has previously worked with Piano Nobile on the gallery's exhibition, Paul Nash: Another Life, Another World. To accompany Dulwich's exhibition, Piano Nobile is holding a gallery display, Surrealism in Britain, which includes work by John Armstrong, Paul Nash and Glyn Philpot.
