Cyril Mann: The Bevin Court Years 1956 - 1964
The first-ever plaque on a council block was unveiled at Bevin Court, Cruickshank Street, Islington on September 28 2013. It commemorates the maverick artist and unlikely local hero, Cyril Mann (1911-1980), who did some of his finest paintings and sculpture while living there in a tiny flat from 1956 to 1964.
This exhibition followed the work produced at Bevin Court. The exhibiton was held at the gallery and at the Islington Local History Centre, Finsbury Library, 245, St John Street, London EC1V 4NB, September 25 to October 1.
