Michael Ajerman is a New York-born artist and writer. In 2018 he was awarded the UCLA's Kitaj Research Fellowship. His scholarly and archival investigation of artists R.B. Kitaj and Walter Sickert culminated in the lecture, From Tipperary to Westwood, which he repeated in London this autumn at the Courtauld Research Forum.
The talk will involve an informal discussion and tour of R.B. Kitaj: London to Los Angeles, which will draw upon Ajerman's research in the Kitaj Archive.
Michael Ajerman studied at the Corcoran School of Art, the New York Studio School, and the Yale Summer School at Norfolk. In 2003 he completed his Master's Degree at the Slade School of Art and received the British Institute Award from the Royal Academy. Ajerman has consistently exhibited internationally in both solo and group shows, and is a regular contributor to Garageland Magazine where he writes on cinema, music, literature and painting. During the 2020 pandemic, Ajerman created the London Lockdown Lecture Series, an independent series of online art lectures.
